Recording in March...Back on stage in April!

We're finally focusing on recording over at Mike's studio, and I'm really liking the sounds that are coming out of his speakers.  Hopefully, we'll have something to share soon.   No more shows for the rest of March due to some work travel and general hecticness, but we'll be back in April.  See the shows page for details.  And check out our new instagram page if you're not already following us.  We'll add some short videos this month…

Saturday Feb 11 at Meadworks!

We'll be back at this cozy little room next Saturday with Franklin on trumpet.  We are really hoping some of the huge Glover Park crowd will drive about 5 miles east to join us for another Saturday night.  Click on the shows page for lots of details.

Get reservations now for Saturday, Jan 28 at In Bocca Al Lupo in Glover Park (7:00 to 10:00)!

The great people behind the Chevy Chase Italian favorite I'm Eddie Cano, have opened a great new restaurant in Glover Park, not far from the National Cathedral (2400 Wisconsin Ave, NW; 202-750-7939).  CLICK HERE to make a reservation and ensure that you don't have to wait for a table.  If you want to be sure you have a table for the early set at 7:00, you'll need to make a 6:30 reservation.  For the later sets, you can make reservations at 7:45 or later.  Walk-ins are welcome anytime, but you might have to wait for a table.

As you can see from this article, they are serious about their Roman-style pizza.  Lou has personally tried it, and he fully approves.  In addition to pizza, there's a wide range of Italian specialties, and a few of the neighborhood favorites have been brought down from Chevy Chase (like the addictive fried zucchini).  Best of all, they have built a little stage, and they are starting to host local music!  Aura, Lou, and Andrew will all be there.  It's a small stage in a small room, so we'll probably do this one without drums.  Watch this space for news on any other band members.  We're hoping Franklin might be back on trumpet (He came over for some practice recently, and he sounded as great as ever).

Saturday, December 3: Happy Go Bikes in Chevy Chase DC (4:00 pm)

We’ll be playing Saturday afternoon as part of the Spark Art Fest and Small Business Party on our little stretch of Connecticut Ave.  We’ll be taking over my favorite bike store in the universe: Happy Go (5516 Connecticut Ave NW).  On my visits for bike repairs, I’ve told the owner Ben that he has great acoustics in his small space, and I’d love to hear what my guitar sounds like bouncing off the walls and high ceiling.  So when he called a couple of days ago to ask if we could do this, I quickly said yes.  Aura, Andrew, and I will be playing this one as a trio.

Ben says there will be some sort of refreshments, but the details are still mysterious (he’s mentioned hot drinks and champaign, among other ideas that may or may not happen).  There will be some benches set up, but if you want to be sure you can sit and be comfortable, Ben recommends bringing your own lawn chairs or something like that.  I’m hoping this will feel a lot like our front lawn neighborhood shows - very casual, and we're open to requests and neighborhood guests.  We'll start at 4:00 and play for at least an hour, maybe longer if we're having fun.  It would be great if some of you could come join us.

Hello from Asia!

Work is keeping us far away from music for the first half of November.  Actually, VERY far away with Lou in Japan and Aura in Cambodia.  We'll be returning to DC and the band soon though.  Two shows for November and December have just been added to the shows page.

And we'll be adding some new videos to instagram soon, so if you haven't started following us yet, now would be a great time!  We finally joined instagram last month, so now we have to find some followers.  Help us get the word out if you can.  See you soon!

Video for "Part-Time Island Girl"...

Click here to check out the video we made earlier this year.  This little song that seems perfect for the gray rainy day outside as I'm typing this.

Band Brulee has finally arrived at the 21st century and joined Instagram.  So now we have to actually find some followers.  If you're on the 'gram, please come follow us - @bandbrulee.

Check out the shows page for some winery dates later this month, and we have a little time for some more outdoor gigs before winter hits.  So count us in if your neighborhood needs some front porch or block party music...

Busy September!

We're totally back from summer vacation, and we're playing all over the place in September.  Lots of variety too.  Mike will be joining us on drums on Sept 9, and Aura and Lou will be playing some of those trio gigs with the great Franklin Wade on Trumpet.  Some gigs are listed on the shows page, and the late Sept gigs will be added soon...

Today's show at National Harbor postponed until Sept 1

Due to the threat of thunderstorms, today's show has been postponed until Sept 1.  See you then.  Here are the details:

We'll be playing at National Harbor aiming our songs directly at people on the water (165 Waterfront Street, Oxen Hill, MD).  Bring your boat (or rent a SUP board, kayak, or giant swan if you don't happen to have a yacht handy) for a refreshing night of #musiconthemarina with us. Our landlubbing friends can also listen from the boardwalk, so come for an adventure even if you prefer terra firma!

Each event in this summer-long series has a theme, and ours is Jazz Through the Ages - which we will interpret in the broadest sense possible.  Come try something new with a refreshing night of music from a Brulee trio of Louis, Aura, and Franklin Wade on trumpet!

This event is sponsored by the nice people at Patina Polished Living.

Tuesday, May 3: Top-secret party in Riverdale...

Aura and Lou will be playing from 6:00-8:00 at the 2-year anniversary party tonight at 2Fifty, the highly acclaimed barbecue place in Riverdale.  They were named best barbecue in the DC area by the Washington Post this year, so they're sort of a big deal.  It's a private party with lots of local culinary luminaries, but if one of our Riverdale area friends shows up early, maybe you can sneak in by carrying one of Lou's guitars...

Next public gig is Saturday May 14 down at Romano Winery.  Come join us!

Meadworks on Saturday April 2!

This Saturday, we'll be back at our new favorite place in the DC area: Meadworks in Hyattsville.  Ken Carter, the owner and head meadmaker, has provided a truly unique spot for music in our area.  We need more creative places like this in the DC area, so I hope you can come support Ken (and us).  Our drummer Mike can't join us this time, so we'll be an acoustic quartet with the great Franklin Wade sitting in on trumpet.  Lots of details about Meadworks are on our shows page.  So click above for all the information, and come say hello on Saturday night!
